Volume I. consists of 34 parchment leaves, but three others and about one-third of the first existing leaf have been cut out. Size, 11½ by 7¾ inches; bound in leather. Label, “Wanlip Register, 1561 to 1777.” One blank leaf of paper at beginning and two at end of book. On the second page of the mutilated first existing leaf is a lengthy memorandum, dated 1712, concerning the division of a farm at Wanlip.
Heading on first page of second leaf, “A register of All Christenings, Burialls, and Weddings in Onlepe ab ano dni 1561.” Above this there is an illegible entry. The whole of this page is badly rubbed.
On the second page of the fifteenth leaf there are two Burials only at top, and the whole of the following page is blank.
On the second page of the sixteenth leaf Christenings are noted separately, commencing in 1636, and continuing so to end of 1699. After 1659 there are no weddings until 1678, which are then entered until 1699 at the end of the book inverted.
With a new Rector, the entries were again put together in 1700. After the entries for 1765, Burials 1636-1647 are recorded. The last leaf but one of parchment is blank on half of first and whole of second page.
The last parchment leaf contains inverted entries of Marriages 1675-1699, and also a Birth in 1714 and 1717, and a memorandum of a London Marriage in 1722.
Volumes II. and III. are of the usual type, containing the Marriages for the periods 1754-1812 and 1813-1837 respectively.
