Volume I., bound in parchment, consists of 46 leaves of parchment (four of these being unused) all measuring 19¼ inches by 6½ inches. It contains Marriages from 1538 to 1754, Baptisms and Burials from 1538 to 1783. The heading to Register states that the early years were copied into the present book in 1599. It is one of the few Leicestershire Registers that may be called perfect, having no years missing from the time that Registers were first ordered to be kept (1538) down to the present time. The entries on the first page are partly obliterated, apparently by exposure without covers. But it has been copied (not quite correctly on paper and inserted in the Register. The earlier part is closely written and the whole book is in good condition, with the above exception.
Volume II. is a parchment book with ruled lines in paper covers, and contains Marriages only from 1755 to 1783.
Volume III., 1783 to 1812. A folio paper book of printed forms for Baptisms, Marriages and Burials. The Marriages (16), 1783 to 1802; Baptisms (40), 1783 to 1796; and Burials (40), 1783 to 1804, all bear the embossed 3d. stamp. Although the Duty was repealed in 1794 the entries here, singularly enough, are stamped to the above dates.
Volume IV., 1816 to 1836, are Marriages only.
These Marriages have been extracted by Mr. Thos. Randall, of Barsby, with the permission of the Rev. T Luscombe, Rector of Beeby.
