Volume I. consists of 16 leaves of parchment, measuring 15 inches by 6 inches, it is very dilapidated and stained throughout, only parts of a great many entries remaining, through a portion of the book having rotted away, apparently by wet. Only one cover now remains, it being parchment. Although this book contains entries beginning in 1614, it appears by the heading that it was bought in 1641, consequently all entries prior to that date have been taken from an earlier volume. It contains Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials from 1614 to 1679, beginning with the Baptism of William Sugar, the third of April, 1614.
There are no entries for the following years, viz., 1615 to 1619, 1622, 1625 to 1627, 1630 to 1634 all inclusive, and 1637. Of these missing years there are transcripts for this parish at Lincoln for 1604, 1606, 1608, 1609 and 1618, and at Leicester for 1578-9, 1612, 1617, 1625 to 1627, 1632, 1634 and 1637, so that a large proportion of the missing entries could be recovered from that source.
Volume II., also a parchment book, of 26 leaves including covers, measuring 14 inches by 9 inches. It contains mixed entries of Baptisms, Marriages and Burials from 1679 to 1731. The years in this volume do not run consecutively, as it begins with the year 1716 and ends with 1706. Some parts are much stained with damp, and several of the leaves are badly torn; the bottom of the leaf for 1728, apparently containing a Marriage entry, is cut away.
Volume III. consists of 26 leaves of parchment with three paper fly leaves, it contains Marriages from 1731 to 1757 only, and Baptisms and Burials from 1731 to 1792. It is bound in stiff parchment covers. At the end three leaves of parchment are cut out, and on the margin of one is written: “These leaves cut out before I came to Hungerton, T. Clarke, Vicar.
Volume IV. of parchment leaves with ruled lines, contains Marriages and Banns only from 1754 to 1775, it is bound in paper covers.
Volume V. A folio book contains Banns and Marriages only from 1777 to 1812 both inclusive.
Volume VI. contains Marriages only 1813 to 1836.
