The following is a description of the earlier volumes of Stathern Registers
Volume I. consists of 38 leaves of parchment, each measuring 11 1/8 ins. by 7¾ ins. This volume contains Burials and Marriages from 1567 to 1673, and Baptisms from 1604 to 1673. It is well written and in good condition.
Volume II. consists of 56 sheets of parchment, each measuring 12¼ ins, by 7½ ins. This volume contains Baptisms, Marriages and Burials from 1673 to 1791. At the end are two pages of Briefs from 1692 to 1730.
Volume III. contains the entries of Marriages and Banns from 1755 to 1812 on the lines prescribed. From 1755 to 1791 Volume II. and Volume III. each contain the Marriages during this period. From 1784 to 1789 George Crabbe, the poet, was Curate at Stathern and during these years he signed all the Marriages.
Volume IV. contains Marriages from 1813 to 1837.
These marriages have been copied by Miss Warren and Mr. Everard L. Guilford, under whose supervision they are now printed, by permission of the Rev. E. G. Peirson, rector.
