Volume I., 1701-1754. The oldest register, contains 16 1/3 quarto leaves of parchment, bound in parchment boards, in good preservation.
Volume II., 1754-1810.—Marriages, is a thin paper folio with paper boards. This is printed for Banns and Marriages in same entry.
Volume III., 1754-1812.—Baptisms and Burials; a thin folio in “law calf,” containing 2 2/3 parchment leaves (on one of which there is a marriage entry), as well as the usual printed paper forms.
Volume IV.—Is a printed folio of the period and contains Marriages from 1812-1848. The last 12 years are entered also in the modern duplicated Register Book. This Book is of the same series as the Baptism and Burial Registers now in use here.
There are Transcripts at Leicester of the lost volume or volumes of Owston Register for the years 1572, 1579-80, 1583-4, 1612, 1613, 1617, 1621, 1622, 1624 to 1629, 1632 to 1634, 1636 to 1639, 1660 to 1667, 1672, 1673, 1675, 1679, 1681, 1686 to 1688, 1690 to 1694, 1699 and 1700; and at Lincoln for 1604 and 1607 to 1609.
These Marriages have been abstracted by the Rev. Frederick E.C. Easter, Vicar of Owston-cum-Newbold Saucy, and are now printed under his supervision.
