The first volume consists of fifteen leaves of parchment, the twelfth and two last fragmentary, the remainder measuring about 12 by 7½ inches. These leaves are unbound and have sadly needed the protection of a cover, though this is now to some extent supplied by their being kept in a mill-board portfolio. The first page was so faded and rubbed that at first sight it appeared to be blank, and not until it was chemically treated was it possible to read a single entry upon it. In order to preserve the information thus recovered from the risk of future loss, we accordingly give the contents of this page verbatim.

Volume II. consists of 33 leaves of parchment, between six fly leaves of paper, bound in parchment boards. The first seventeen parchment leaves measure 13 by 7 inches, and the remainder about 13 by 7¼. This volume contains entries of Baptisms and Burials from 1671 to 1779 inclusive, and Marriages from 1672 to 1753. On the last two pages are several memoranda of charitable benefactions. On the paper flyleaves are records of a good number of “Church Briefs.” One in April, 1763, records the collection of five shillings towards raising £12,000 “for the Colleges in America & Pensylvania.” Pasted inside the back cover is a permit from the Coroner dated 3 December, 1747, allowing the burial of the corpse of “Nathaniel Waring, of Sharnford, husbandman,” who was “starved to death with cold.” His burial entry states that ten shillings were received for his Mortuary.
Volume III. contains Marriages from 1754 to 1812. The first thirteen entries are on three leaves of parchment, prefixed to the usual printed forms, the entries on which begin in 1761.
Volume IV. contains Marriages from 1813 to 1837.
Abstracts of the marriage entries in the first two volumes have been made by Mr. Harold Mason, under the supervision of Mr. T. M. Blagg, by whom the work has been checked and the volumes collated. The abstracts from 1754 to 1837 have been done by the Rev. E. Douglas Starey, the present Rector, by whose permission all are now printed.
