The registers under review are in a poor state of preservation. No. I. consists of eighteen parchment leaves, 15½ inches long by 6½ inches wide, tied together by a piece of string, and are coverless. These contain:— Christenings, 1561-1649 and one entry out of order for 1677; Marriages, 1569-1599 ; Burials, 1561-1636, “for the years 1559 et 1560 none to be found.” All the entries are made in the same handwriting down to the year 1600, and would appear to be a transcript, as the entries follow in good order.
No. II. consists of eighteen parchment leaves, 21½ inches long by 7 inches wide, tied together by a piece of string, and are coverless. On the outside page is marked “Sibson Register No. 2.” Christenings, 1648-1743; Marriages, 1648-1743 ; Burials, 1654-1743. The entries have been very irregularly made.
No. III. consists of twenty-four parchment leaves in cover marked “Sibson Register Book,” 16½ inches long and 9 inches wide. This register is in better order. Christenings, 1744-1777; Marriages, 1744-1777; Burials, 1744-1777.
No. IV. is composed of twelve parchment sheets, 15 inches long and 10½ inches wide, sewn together with white cotton and is evidently a copy, or at least a part of it is merely memoranda. Baptisms, 1782- 1812; Marriages, 1800-1812 (these entries are merely memoranda); Burials, 1782.1812.
No. V. is really the Marriage register from 1812-1837. Under cover of this volume are nineteen loose paper leaves, much torn and tied together in one corner by a piece of silk ribbon. These contain the Marriages from 1778-1812.
The following extracts arc from a transcript made by” Oxonieiisis,” and collated with the Originals by Mr. Leopold Choice, of Disley, in Cheshire, and are now printed by leave of the Rev. L. Phillips, M.A., Rector of Sibson.
